Local Businesses Invited to Join the Business+ Programme
Aroha Kaikorai Valley (AKV) is calling on local businesses to register for their newly launched “Business Plus” training series—a four-session, hands-on education programme aimed at bringing business and community together around the health of the local waterways.
The programme is open to one representative from each participating business (only ten seats available) and covers:
Session 1 (17 Feb 2026): a tour of the Mt Grand water treatment plant and the broader Kaikorai Valley geology and water-flow systems.
Session 2 (24 Mar 2026): a historical and industrial catchment site-visit (Dynes Transport yard) to explore business-landscape interactions.
Session 3 (28 Apr 2026): practical water-quality testing, including pH, turbidity, invertebrate counts and an electric-fishing survey.
Session 4 (26 May 2026): tree planting and a “Only Drain Rain” presentation, reinforcing best practice for urban storm-water management.
By joining, businesses gain insight into the broader environmental systems they operate within, build connections with peer organisations and contribute to fostering healthier waterways in the Kaikorai catchment. The programme is delivered by AKV and scheduled monthly to align with business rosters and payroll demands.
To express interest, businesses should contact AKV via phone 03 474 5953 or mobile 021 887 630, or email connect@akv.nz.
