Junior Web Developer

This is a 40-hour junior role, ideally from our office in Dunedin.

The Role:

This is a junior role, where you’ll be trained, mentored and supported. We develop and run a multi-tenanted platform, offering you a wide variety of work. We’re supportive, respectful, and nimble in our office culture and the way we like to work. While it says full-time, we’re flexible. we can work with what’s doable for you. A lot of our team have kids and we know family comes first.  Some of our team work remotely and we can all work from home when we need to.

Enough about us, what about you?

You’ll ideally have:

  • Great written and verbal communication skills so you can clearly articulate complex issues and work with remote team members.
  • Experience front end tech (eg bootstrap, javascript, SCSS)
  • Experience with either PHP, Python, Go or some other OOP language.
  • Experience with any MVC based framework (e.g. Slim, Symfony, Zend)

Bonus points for these:

  • Commercial experience developing web applications using server-side and client-side technologies
  • Any form of native mobile application development would be a bonus
  • You have an eye for spotting potential UI/UX problems.
  • Experience with cloud services and LAMP stacks.
  • Understanding of hosting, including domains and DNS.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Tertiary qualification in Computer Science to Certificate or Diploma level (or similar)
  • 1-2 years of proven experience in a junior software development role is a bonus but not necessary
