New Zealand Marine Logistics (NZML) is a new business that provides an efficient turnaround time for vessels in New Zealand working out of Dunedin, Timaru, and Bluff. They work with a wide range of vessels and offer compliance, project management, contractor liaison and marine servicing and maintenance.


NZML wanted a design that was clean and contemporary. As a new business, showcasing the businesses’ vision was important to Glenn. Offering a full service that eliminates the headache was a big part of the website. Turnaround time is a huge, costly exercise in marine logistics, and so providing the most efficient turnaround time is paramount. Successfully targeting the right audience was another important objective of the website, as it’s an international audience of very professional people, often with one or several commercial level businesses. Having the right language and look to fit in with this demographic was crucial.


The New Zealand Marine Logistics (NZML) website isn’t afraid to use a bit of white space to make the design really pop. It has four clear call out buttons on the homepage to the four main services offered; compliance and regulations, project management, contractor liaison and marine servicing and maintenance. The 'About' page gives the focus of the business and a bit about Glenn’s extensive background. 'Testimonials', with any business, but especially a fledgling business, are incredibly powerful. New Zealand marine compliance and regulatory laws are explained a lot on the 'Compliance and Regulations' page and this is important, as new biofouling regulations come into effect in May 2018. What’s great with the Simple Web Manager platform from Turboweb, is that if any new regulations do come about, it’s easy for Glenn to log in to his website and update the content on any particular page.


For a logo, NZML liked the traditional story of moana (water) and incorporating the Maori motif of a wave into their design.  Turboweb consulted with NZML, and a wave symbol, incorporating a stylised New Zealand koru, implying forward movement and using colour to imply collaboration was born. The wave also symbolises moana and gives it a connection to New Zealand’s sacred waters. The design is concise, clean and contemporary. This makes it instantly recognisable and hopefully one day soon, synonymous with the business.


New Zealand Marine Logistics (NZML) was after a website to display the business opportunities that we offer the market. As a new business, NZML wanted to ensure that the website had a professional feel that was targeting the right demographic. As a business with a large, international and professional audience it was important to us that the website targeted this market and was easily navigable.
