About Turboweb Limited

Turboweb is a web development and design company. Our mission is to help you understand the process of getting your website online, and we do this by taking the jargon out of the process and keeping it human. The experience we have in our industry allows us to provide real world advice that results in real world results for you.

Our focus is solely on web based solutions and this allows us to be specialists in one area rather than a jack-of-all-trades. We are friendly, approachable and helpful and passionate about using internet technologies to turn problems into solutions.

We also believe that the Internet is for everyone and as a result we develop inclusive technologies that everyone can use - you will see direct evidence of this on our testimonials page.

Our History

Turboweb started in 2004 when Aaron Singline and Paul Southworth came together to work on various Internet projects. With Paul's sales and marketing knowledge and Aaron's technical abilities the easy-to-talk-to, easy-to-use synergy quickly emerged.

Turboweb quickly outgrew the constraints of a home based office and in November 2007 secured office space at 310 Moray Place in Dunedin in order to provide room for growth and to better service our clients. In April 2008 we took on our first employee, Bob Brown.

The decision to step out with the company and grow has resulted in Turboweb going from strength to strength, delivering clever and easy-to-use solutions to a very wide range of clubs, businesses, organisations and individuals, some of which can be seen on our portfolio page.

Our Future

With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight and controlled growth, we are actively looking at new and exciting ways to deliver Internet based solutions to real world problems. As a result of this we are always looking for clever, passionate and energised people to assist us. To stay in the loop on these activities, join our mailing list by entering your name and email address on the right hand side of this page.

Our People

Paul Southworth - Managing Director

Paul Southworth - Managing Director Paul has been building and running websites since 1999. With a background in retail and marketing, he soon found that clients wanted someone who could understand their needs without all the geeky jargon.

Having spent many years running and building retail websites from the ground up Paul has learned first hand about what works and what doesn't on the Internet; there is much more to an online presence than just having a website.

Paul is responsible for the day to day management of Turboweb and handles most of the sales calls and client visits.

Aaron Singline - Co-Founder

Aaron Singline - Co-Founder Aaron has been fascinated by technology since his early childhood when he first saw a BBC Micro Computer with the power to play Bat n Ball ("Wow!"). Driven to find out how this thing worked, Aaron learned how to program it, and then progressed to the Apple ][ , Macintosh and early 3d graphics.

The arrival of his first PC was a revolution and allowed him to move into Pascal programming, 3d raytraced graphics, early web design and standards, and running a BBS before the Internet as we know it took off.

Running his own company since 1998 and working as a systems administrator in various schools has given Aaron a great geeky background. He also runs night classes teaching web design.

Aaron also finds it a little unusual to talk about himself in the third person but has done so for the sake of this biography.  He may or may not also have a strange sense of humour.

You can follow Aaron on Twitter here.

Bob Brown - Web Developer

Bob Brown - Web Developer Bob has been involved with web development projects since 1999 and has a strong working knowledge of a range of web based technologies and how they can be worked into solutions that provide a great user experience.

With the ability to wrangle solutions well beyond the realm of the web page, Bob has experience provisioning, running and managing Linux and Windows data centres, running corporate sized projects both in New Zealand and abroad, and integrating small and large scale systems to make the most of marketing opportunities.

In a lifestyle focussed move, Bob joined Turboweb in April 2008 after returning to Dunedin from the UK.  His dedication to his young family and interest in doing great things with a great company with an accommodating work ethic have resulted in a great balance of family life and geekiness.

With a keen interest in open source, Web 2.0 technologies, and bringing technology solutions closer to those who need them, Bob is pleased to be able to join the Turboweb team and add strength and direction to a successful company.

Bob's interests include: Web development, brewing beer at home, geocaching, board games and spending time with his wife and kids.

Michael Miller - Web Developer

Michael has been contracting for Turboweb since August 2009 and his regimented, focussed and strong systems architecture skills have been a refreshing addition to the team.  Michael returned from the UK to Dunedin in April 2009 and in-between his other business ventures and serious addiction to good coffee, he has found the time to join us to deliver some top-notch technical solutions for our clients.

Tonic Artos

Tonic has been working with Turboweb on a part-time basis since November 2009.  Tonic's passion for open source software and technically correct solutions (why hack it when you can do it properly) has meant his addition to the team has been painless (although four guys in a small room sometimes gets a bit silly).  Tonic is an contributor to the open source Gnome Devtools project, and has a quirky interest in Google's new programming language, "Go".
